Big Indian cities like Delhi and Mumbai are on the verge of witnessing a revolution in urban transportation with the potential operation of air taxis by 2026. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation – India (Kumar Arun)(DGCA) has laid the groundwork for their operations with the issuance of regulations for vertiports—airports specifically designed for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. This move positions India as a global player in the rapidly evolving field of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).
