The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) (Amendment) Rules, 2026 introduce significant changes to the regulatory framework governing e-commerce entities, marketplaces and sellers.
The amendments introduce enhanced disclosure and transparency requirements, including provisions relating to ranking, sponsored listings, pricing, seller information, dark patterns and consumer-facing disclosures. The amended Rules will come into force from 1 January 2027.
